My favorite place on earth is Cape Cod especially Chatham in the summer. We have summered in Chatham since the year that I was born. The combination of hydrangeas and sea air create a magic aroma of summer. Thanks to t pandemic, seasonal workers are few and far between, so if you’re heading to the Cape this summer, make your reservations now. Fourth of July is an incredible time in Chatham, but very busy.
I bring my family every summer to keep the tradition alive. A week-long or (long weekend-long) vacation to the Cape can be pricey, but it truly is a great investment to ensure priceless life-long family memories with something to do and see for everyone. Fly into Boston, rent a car and drive down Route 6. Get a room at the Wayside Inn, Pleasant Bay, or Chatham Bars Inn.
Breakfast: Chatham Cookware, Hangar B, Pleasant Bay, Snowy Owl, Let them Eat Cake…Lunch: CBI, Corner Store, Chatham Squire, Impudent Oyster… Dinner: BUCAS, Del Mar, and Pates. If you’re looking for lobster, I recommend getting it right from the docks. Drinks; CBI, Squire and Chatham Wine Bar. Shop on Main Street.
See also Oysterville, Brewster and Harwich. Take the Hy-line from Harwich Port to Nantucket (it is a long day but worth it.)
