Friday Check-In

Our New Normal

This week, everything changed once again as we ventured back into the world and my son started summer camp…and I got to resume normal business hours free of distraction.

It’s a risk. I get it. But the risk of personally getting sick is not the criticism faced by families like mine…it’s the claims of “recklessness” or “irresponsibility” are being whispered by people at greatest risk with underlying health conditions and/or their families. I also get that.

We have a very small circle of people that we are interacting with. We are respectful of the people who want to socially distance themselves. We had to do what was best for our family…period. I think it’s important to respect the decisions of everyone as being the right decision for them. Who am I to judge? If you want to judge me, so be it.

I personally have a heightened duty to my clients and the Florida Supreme Court has made it really clear in an order issued this week…attorneys are expected to work as normally as possible and use technology. COVID-19 is no longer an excuse to delay proceedings.

So without family locally, again this is what is best for us. We are cautiously optimistic.

What I’m Working On

I have been teasing an excellent web series for professionals that I drafted in March. The last step to launch is recording the series. Again, childcare is going to allow me to finally get this done! I cannot wait to share it. I learned many years ago the power of a personal brand. I am excited to teach professionals how to leverage social media to increase their bottom line. It’s coming! Stay tuned!

Father’s Day/Mr. Make It Rainka’s Birthday

Father’s Day has already been a birthday celebration for my dad (June 16) and now my husband (June 12). I am trying to nail down our plan as a trip to Universal Studios Orlando’s Volcano Bay waterpark is not happening. I blew it last year (he wanted the waterpark, and I forced him to go to Sea World…whoops). So, this year I need to redeem myself. But how?? Willing to take suggestions.

My husband does not care about things, but experience would be perfect. I’m toying with a stay-cation at the beach. He deserves something special.

ready to make it Rain{ka}?

I'm an award-winning, expert attorney in Jacksonville, Florida. I represent professional women and their families who are injured or arrested in Florida. I love my job and am proud to have a career, but when I became a mother, I learned that working moms are uniquely tasked with having to achieve "balance." (whatever that is.) What I really wanted was freedom - freedom to practice law in a way that works for me and my family. Through the support and advice of other working moms, I have found success by developing a personal brand that allows me to create my own clients and practice law in a way that gives me freedom. Now it's my turn to help other lawyer moms learn how to do the same and make it Rain(ka).
