My Favorite Products for Brows & Eyes

Confession: I don’t leave the house without mascara. I own so much mascara that I have an entire section of my makeup drawer with just mascara in it. I can have zero makeup on my face, but if my eyes are done, I feel polished. I’ve found some awesome products and stuck with them for a few years now.  I’ve been rocking the same look for almost 10 years, but when I look in the mirror I’m happy with what I see (even in photos aren’t always so kind). Here are my favorite products:

Brows:

I start with brows. Why? Who knows. I am hooked on all things brows from Benefit. I don’t have the big, beautiful brows that currently all the rage. In fact, I have had the same eyebrows since I was a toddler, and they currently aren’t in fashion (but I bet they will come around!) I cannot achieve the big brow look, but these products get me close! Precisely My Brow is my everyday tool. I add the Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Gel and Goof Proof Brow Pencil Easy Shape and Fill when I try to get them a little fuller. Plus, Benefit has great kits like this, this, this, Boss Brows and the Bomb Ass Brows Kit if you want to try samples before you dive in (and a sample size will last a while). This grooming tool is also pretty helpful.

Eyeshadow:

This is all about eye color.  There’s good article from Elle to help you find you’re best color palette(s). I have teal blue eyes, and have been very happy golds, pinks, browns, nudes, and jet black with M.A.C. palettes and Naked 2Naked 3 For a really simple palette, try Naked Basics.

Eye Liner:

If I use liquid liner, I use Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Black. I just got a sample of Benefit Roller Liner and it was super easy and smooth to apply.  But I rarely use the real thing. Instead, I use M.A.C. Eyeshadow in Carbon. I wet a really fine angled liner brush, like this one from Nars. It’s very easy to put on, easy to wash off and a looks just as good.

Mascara:

Where to start?! Again, Benefit is my favorite. Bad Gal is awesome because of the huge brush.  But I recently learned that little brushes applied in a side-to-side motion (rather than up and down) can get major extension. I tried that with Roller Lash and I have loved the result, but be warned, the formula is tacky and you need makeup remover.  They’re Real is also amazing, but you seriously need a special remover to get it off. I only use it for special occasions. Adding a primer, like this one from Dior makes the product pop even more.

Lashes:

This is my guilty pleasure. Duo is the best glue to use, and the new brush on is very easy to use. I love M.A.C. lashes in 70, or 36 and Lilly Lashes in Luxury Goddess, but save them for special occasions. For every day, I’ve had a lot of luck with T.J. Maxx and Target. If you struggle to apply lashes, here is a really good YouTube video from James Charles (!) at 23:00 that explains application well.  I personally put a dot of glue onto my hand, drag the lashes through and wave them dry for a few seconds. Enjoy!

ready to make it Rain{ka}?

I'm an award-winning, expert attorney in Jacksonville, Florida. I represent professional women and their families who are injured or arrested in Florida. I love my job and am proud to have a career, but when I became a mother, I learned that working moms are uniquely tasked with having to achieve "balance." (whatever that is.) What I really wanted was freedom - freedom to practice law in a way that works for me and my family. Through the support and advice of other working moms, I have found success by developing a personal brand that allows me to create my own clients and practice law in a way that gives me freedom. Now it's my turn to help other lawyer moms learn how to do the same and make it Rain(ka).
