I love makeup, always have, always will, but the older I get, the more complicated I feel like makeup has become. I rarely wear a full face of makeup, so when I put in the effort, and my makeup separates, I feel personally victimized. It happens so often, and it’s such a waste of expensive makeup. So I did some research (and watched several TikToks) to figure out how to avoid this. Here is what I learned: Makeup has one of three bases – water, silica, or oil. When you mix water-based and oil-based (or any combination), you risk separation. I audited my makeup (primer, foundation, concealer, cream contour, and setting spray). I looked up the ingredients of every product, and it turns out that overwhelmingly, my favorite products are water/silicone based (the ingredients list water and dimethicone.) Allegedly, if my primer, foundation, concealer, and setting spray are all the same base, this won’t happen. I have linked these products below. But – be mindful that when using these products, the best tools are your fingers, a beauty blender wet with the setting spray (not water) or a synthetic brush. My only goal in life is to look like a Kardashian and this information has me one step closer. Stop my favorite water/silicone-based products below!
