I recently had the opportunity to serve a taco dinner at the Hope Lodge here in Jacksonville alongside the Hightower Fellowship, and I wanted to take a moment to share this heartwarming experience with you.
For those who may not know, the Hope Lodge is an incredible resource provided by the American Cancer Society that offers free lodging to cancer patients and their families during treatment. It’s a place where hope and community come together, and being able to contribute even in a small way was truly special.
A Night of Tacos and Togetherness
Serving dinner to the patients and families staying at the Hope Lodge was such a rewarding experience. We had a great time preparing and serving tacos, and more importantly, connecting with the people who call Hope Lodge home during some of the most challenging times of their lives. The laughter and conversations shared over tacos reminded me of the power of community and kindness.
Why Hope Lodge Matters
The work that Hope Lodge does is invaluable. By providing a safe, comfortable, and free place for cancer patients and their families to stay, they help relieve some of the burdens that come with treatment—financially, emotionally, and physically. It’s places like this that remind us of the importance of support systems and how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
My Gratitude
I’m so grateful to the Hightower Fellowship for organizing this evening and allowing me to be part of it. It was a humbling reminder of how we can all contribute to lifting others up, even if it’s just through something as simple as a meal.
